Our Village, Our Story
By: Founder, Ms. Tamika Keith
In 2014, my life was a beautiful blend of change. Newly married, blending families, and discovering what it truly means to nurture a community. Through those experiences, It Takes a Village was born from love, growth, and a desire to create spaces where every child feels safe, seen, and supported.

Before I launched my Family home daycare. I worked with the Department of Developmental Services, serving individuals with developmental and behavioral disabilities. That work lit a fire in me to design programs that build connection, joy, and belonging. People called me "the nurturer", and that name still fits.
After facing personal storms, divorce, postpartum depression, and burnout. I turned my prayer into purpose. With what little I had, I created a home where children could grow and heal. Seven years later, that home has blossomed into a holistic childcare program serving families who need the village most.
This blog, Our Village, Our Story, is where I'll share that journey of faith, resilience, and the power of community.

As an educator, I find it imperative that we have individuals in our community that we can in trust our children in their care. This individuals should not only have a desire to nurture and cultivate future members of our society, but should also have a desire to serve the families of those children. I’ve know Tamika to be such an individual not only in her work as a provider, but as a mother and cousin alike. Her dedication to service is admirable and I am proud to call her family

When looking for Child Care for my daughter it was important to me that I found someone caring and someone who would love my daughter as their own. With my daughter having a Metabolic disorder, finding a daycare that is willing to put the time and effort to make sure she is taken care of was surprisingly hard. Then I came about “It takes a Village.” I am not usually the type to write reviews but I am so impressed with the service here that u have to honestly say sending my daughter here has been the best decision I have ever made. The owner Tammy is very patient and Kind and genuinely cares for the children which is most important. Trusting someone with your child can be nerve wrecking but with Tammy I immediately felt at ease. My daughter absolutely loves her. I recommend everyone to send their child here.

When Tami first told us about her childcare services we were so excited for her. Then when we realized it meant she’ll no longer be working with my son Dani. My husband and I were heartbroken! Dani has Autism. We’ve had many caregivers come into our lives over the years, but none as thorough as she. We still have not found anyone to replace the level of care, expertise and quality Tami brings. Tami is an asset to any family no matter the need.
